Jakarta's Ongoing Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Construction Development
Phase 1: 14.5 Km (Lebak Bulus - Dukuh Atas-HI
Blok M Station, Kebayoran (15/04/2018)

A construction worker gives direction to a crane driver lifting Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) to be placed into the ground near HI roundabout, Jakarta, Saturday (23/02/16)
The process of boring is expected to go on until December 2016, as long as 6.81 km or 680 meters which stretchs from "Patung Pemuda" up to Hotel Indonesia (HI). This TBM with diameter 6.7 meters and length around 43 meters is used by contractors of work package CP104 and CP105 (Senayan-Setiabudi) that is SWOJ, a joint operation consisted of Shimizu, Obayashi, Wijaya Karya and Jaya Konstruksi.
In a day this giant TBM can drill into the ground to make deep hole with the speed of 8 meters/day. And this TBM can work 24 hours continuously. The TBMs were delivered from Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
According to JICA's Chief of Representative in Indonesia, Ando Naoki, a cylinder-shaped TBM equipped with 48 knives is designed to make deep hole underground and install concrete beams measuring 1.5 meters on the tunnel walls. In other word, one TBM is able to carry out two works simultaneously.
The underground boring is divided in two phases.1st phase, there are two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) "Antareja" currently being operated from "Patung Pemuda Senayan" to Setiabudi. 2nd phase, the TBM "Mustika Bumi" to be operated from HI to Dukuh Atas. Those TBMs finally will meet in the center point at Setiabudi Station (MJ)
